An expanding partnership to encourage accessible and sustainable pre-schooling
Ajouté le : 29 Avril 2008 » Sous la catégorie Education

The BMCE Bank Foundation, in partnership with the Ministry of National Education, organized an international seminar in Rabat on pre-school education in Morocco. Education and training concern us all, not only the State. Private partners can play a major role by supporting projects carried out by the government, and by their involvement in conveying a socially responsible image. This is the case with the BMCE Bank Foundation, which organized an international seminar on pre-school education in Morocco, on the 22nd & 23rd of April in Rabat.
"The BMCE Bank Foundation is prepared to promote pre-school education by providing specialized classes to the forty Medersat.com schools which are to be built in the next two years" stressed Dr. Leila Mezian Benjelloun, President of the BMCE Bank Foundation.
Latifa El Abida, Secretary of State to the Minister of National Education, Higher Education, Training and Scientific Research, took part in this seminar entitled "For the Development of Accessible and Sustainable Pre-Schooling", with the attendance of Othman Benjelloun, President of BMCE Bank, along with other well known figures. Education experts from Morocco and other countries such as Senegal, France and Canada also took part in this seminar.
In her opening remarks, stressing the importance of the BMCE Bank Foundation's initiative, Latifa El Abida stated "the practical realizations in the field" carried out by the Foundation represent "a tangible contribution to the national effort undertaken for the improvement of the Moroccan educational system and rehabilitation of Moroccan schools".
A variety of workshops on themes related to pre-school education in Morocco took place, including the development of pre-school age children's intellectual, emotional, physical and social capacities, the specific features of teacher training and supervision in terms of pre-schooling, as well as the establishment and organization of prerequisites to ensure accessible and sustainable preschools in Morocco.
At present, 76 pre-school classrooms are operational, approximately 60 of which are in the Foundation's Medersat.com schools, throughout several provinces in the Kingdom. Another one hundred located in public schools are in the process of being finalized. Pre-school education enjoys a significant position as a continuity factor with respect to family life within the general educational system, participants in this seminar noted.
The seminar's recommendations focused on a pre-school specific strategy and action plan, with the implementation of guidelines, outlining those skills which children should have acquired by the end of the pre-school cycle, professional guidelines for teachers as well as guidelines on pedagogical supervision. Preferential treatment should be given to native languages as they are critical tools in the child's socialization process and facilitate the acquisition of basic skills.
The President of the BMCE Bank Foundation took this opportunity to announce that the creation of two pre-school teacher training centers is scheduled, specifically in Bouskoura, in the Province of Casablanca, an Arab speaking region, and in Boukana, in the Provence of Nador , an Amazighe speaking region. The centers will be open to Medersat.com program employees as well as professionals involved in the partnership between Medersat.com and nearby public schools.
